Projects

As well as our work with Compact goals, mentoring, awards and supporting links to industry, we also create learning activities to bring the world of work into schools.

The Compact kit car

Sir Henry Cooper School requested a project that would demand team-working, problem solving and working to time. In response, we created this project.

Pupils in groups of five to eight get a specification and a list of parts.

From this they build a pushable 'car' that they demonstrate by completing a course against the clock. Before the time trial, each car is inspected for compliance with specification and to ensure safe operation.

The project is an enjoyable and effective practical opportunity to learn the key skills required by the curriculum.
